Exercises Following Session 9
Study the
compositions given in the notes and try to study other short and longer touches
found in the Diary. Write out the coursing orders that the touches produce,
either as a table which corresponds to the written down touch or any other form
that suits you.
Look for
memorable patterns in the coursing orders. Look especially for where the 5th
comes but also look at how the other bells rotate at each part end.
Where a
composition has extra singles look for patterns that will tell you in which
parts to call these singles. In particular, where the single is instead of a
plain look at which bell will make 2nds and where the single is instead of a
bob look for which bell will make the bob. These bells will be in the same place
at each of the singles and so their appearance in this place can be looked for.
Try to find a 1-part composition and split it into 3 or 4 sections, each ending with a memorable target coursing order. Treat it as 3 or 4 separate touches to be rung without break
